Federal Skilled Trade Worker
Federal Skilled Trade Worker Program (FSTW) is for individuals who are skilled in a trade occupation.
Canada identifies specific trade occupations as a part of NOC B job classification.
In order to apply for the FSTW program, the applicant must have
- At least 2 years of full – time experience in the last 5 years in a skilled trade
- Have a minimum of CLB 5 in all modules of the language test
- Have a valid job offer for a period of a minimum of 1 year or A Certificate of Qualification in a skilled trade issued by a Canadian provincial or territorial body or federal body
- Meet the requirements of the job set out in the National Occupational Classification

The following trades have been defined by IRCC to be eligible to apply for the FSTW category
- Major Group 72, industrial, electrical and construction trades
- Major Group 73, maintenance and equipment operation trades
- Major Group 82, supervisors and technical jobs in natural resources, agriculture and related production
- Major Group 92, processing, manufacturing and utilities supervisors and central control operators
- Minor Group 632, chefs and cooks
- Minor Group 632, chefs and cooks
There is no educational requirement for the FSTW but it is advisable to have education assessed to procure more points in the CRS ranking system under the Express Entry system
